God's Helping Hands

Melissa Gibson, Director of God's Helping Hands, started the project nearly 4 years ago after witnessing a man bringing a baby without a diaper to church. Since the beginning, Melissa and other volunteers pack food boxes and supply clothing to over 200 familes a month. Through meeting the needs of the families they support, God's Helping Hand has played a vital role in bringing the salvation and hope of Jesus into the lives of many people.

What goes on here at God's Helping Hands

One of the greatest tools of outreach can be meeting the simple needs of a desperate people. Every week, God's Helping Hands' doors are open to serve families desperate for food, supplies, diapers, clothing, primary medical items, etc. Aside from the immense job of supplying food and supplies to over 200 families each month, God's Helping Hands is a centerpoint for individuals and groups from accross the nation to get involved in the revival God has started in the area.

Just recently, a small church from Glen Burnie, Maryland has partnered with Melissa to return at least twice a year to restock her with food and supplies, and to work in the area and minister to the people. During the summer, work projects will be the focus for the mission team of about 15 people. They will be installing windows, replacing steps, repairing leaky roofs, patching holes in floors and walls, etc. During the winter, the church works with Melissa to sponsor at least 75 children from the poorest families in Garrett, getting each child clothes, shoes, and Christmas gifts.

There are many opportunities for groups and individuals seeking to get involved in missions. Jesus said in Matthew 28, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (v19-20).
